A small practice that starts inside the operation

Overcode builds AI workflows and custom systems for businesses whose work has outgrown the tools running it. It is not a software house: the person who watches your process is the person who directs what gets built from it, and staying small is what makes that possible.
What we actually do
Most software gets specified in a meeting room and fails there. A requirements document records what people believe the work is, and the gap between that and what the work turns out to be is where budgets go. So the engagement starts with process mapping — sitting with the operation, in your tools and channels and alongside the people doing the job, recording where it stalls and who is keying the same thing twice.
What the map finds decides what gets built. Sometimes the process is sound and the tooling is not, and the answer is a custom system shaped around how the business actually works. Sometimes repetitive work is being done by hand, and the answer is agents and automation wired into the tools you already run on. Sometimes the systems simply do not talk to each other, and the answer is an architecture decision — what to build, what to buy, and what to leave alone.
Often the most valuable thing the mapping produces is a smaller scope than the one you arrived with.
The record
Systems built for businesses in energy, manufacturing, lending, plantation, transport, e-commerce, hospitality, property and advertising. Among them a manufacturing ERP, a loan management system for the co-operative lending sector, plantation irrigation telemetry, an electricity forecasting and distribution platform, a wallet loyalty platform, and a series of nopCommerce deployments across six retail sectors. The ones published here are a selection, each written up in full, with the problem it addressed, what was built, and whatever outcomes can honestly be reported — including the studies where the answer is “it has not launched yet, so there is nothing to claim”.
How the work runs
The engineering happens inside your operation rather than at arm’s length from it. In practice that is four things.
We work from the operation, not from a brief. Mostly remote, in your tools and channels and alongside the people doing the job, and on-site when the process needs watching in person. Either way what we build from is the work itself, not a requirements document someone else wrote.
The engineer who maps it leads the build. Whoever watched your process directs what gets built from it, so nothing is handed to a team you never meet and rebuilt from a written spec.
You see it in increments. Working software you can look at while it is being built, so a change of direction costs a week rather than a quarter.
You can take the source code. Ask for it and the source is yours, so whoever runs the process afterwards is not tied to us. We would rather be brought back than depended on.
Where we are
Overcode Sdn. Bhd. is registered in Malaysia (company no. 202101011251) and works out of Petaling Jaya, Selangor. Most engagements run remotely, including for clients outside Malaysia, with on-site time when a process needs watching in person. Commercially they run as fixed price, time and materials, or a monthly retainer, depending on whether the scope is known, moving, or ongoing. The registered office address is on the contact page.
What we will say no to
If a problem is not a fit we will say so, and we would rather tell you that early than take an engagement we cannot do well. We are not the right choice for a project that needs a large team staffed immediately, for a one-off design or marketing job with no system behind it, or for someone looking for an off-the-shelf product to sign up for. There is nothing here to buy: every engagement is built for the operation it is built for.
The fastest way to find out whether it is a fit is to describe what is slowing the business down. That is a free thirty-minute conversation, and the answer at the end of it is sometimes that you do not need us.
